Bulkpaq 4x Speed Printable DVD+R MCC 002
Not to be left out with new media Bulkpaq the best selling budget DVD media manufacturer sent me samples of some of their latest DVD+R printable media. The 25 cake tub came shrink wrapped with a dark green label around the outside of the tub the discs had the standard 42mm x 118mm printable area the inner is clear with a 4mm silver band next to the printable surface. The underside is a dark purple colour with a 2mm gold band separating the dye from the clear centre. The rim is smooth and clean cut. I checked the disc in my Pioneer 108 to find the maximum burn speed was 4x and the dye stamper was MCC002

I burnt several films with this media and tested the playback for compatibility they all played smoothly in my DVD players I burnt this media in the following drives PIONEER DVR-108, NEC ND-3500AG, Memorex DVDDLRWL1 F16, BENQ DW1620, PLEXTOR PX708A, LITEON SOHW1633S, TEAC DV-W516G The drives reported the maximum burn speed of 4x with the exception of the Plextor & Benq both of which would burn this media at 8x speed, for the purpose of these tests I restricted the burning speed to 4x for all drives for a better comparison
Here are the resultant graphs
PIONEER DVR-108 V1.14
 | A burn quality test in my NU drive
PIE very low with a peak of 7 and a low average of 3 they don't come much better,. Jitter peaked at 12.9% with an average of 11.2% and a smooth pattern this is another good result PIF errors are virtually non existent
So here we have an example of a very good burn and have to put this result with the best of the best |
 | Speed test in the Toshiba drive This scan shows a perfect graph. What more can I say? |
NEC ND-3500AG | Burn quality as tested in the NU drive
Just when I said they don't come much better we have another one from the NEC drive PIE peak of 6 and an average of 2. Jitter peak 12.5% and average of 11%. With probably slightly more PIF errors but immeasurable being so low | | Speed test in the Toshiba drive
This scan shows a perfect graph again What more can I say?
|
MEMOREX DVDDLRWL1 F16 vBWSE | Burn quality as tested in the NU drive
Good PIE graph with a peak of 32 and average of 14. Jitter 14.5% peak 12.8% average, and negligible PIF errors
Good results here but not in the same class as the Pioneer, NEC, Benq & Plextor |
 | Speed test in the Toshiba drive
This scan shows a perfect graph that goes off the scale in my Toshiba. This is a typical result from the Liteon clone drives when they have burnt DVD+R at DVD-ROM book format
|
BENQ DW1620 | Burn quality as tested in the NU drive
Looks like I have to eat my words. What can I say the performance here outstrips the competition when I did not think a scan like this was possible!!
PIE peaks at 4 and averages 1. Jitter peak 11.2% average 10.1%. PIF errors ZERO
I am SPEECHLESS at this result especially when it comes from a Bulkpaq disc
| | Speed test in the Toshiba drive
This scan shows a perfect graph. and there is nothing more to say |
PLEXTOR PX-708A | Burn quality as tested in the NU drive
PIE peaks at 7 & averages 2, Jitter peak 12.2% average 10.8%. PIF negligible with a peak of 4. This PIF peak at the 3.5gig point should be ignored as there is a scratch on the disc at this point but it did not affect playback So here again we have a very good burn | | Speed test in the Toshiba drive
This scan shows an almost perfect graph with just one minor blip and upon examining the disc surface there is a scratch at about that point which I put down to bad handling and this could be my fault.
|
LITEON SOHW1633S | Burn quality as tested in the NU drive
PIF is fairly stable around the 40 mark up to about 3gig when it starts to rise and reaches a peak of 250. Jitter is on the high side peaking at 15.9% with an average of 13.7%. A few more PIF errors but not excessive peaking at 8 at the edge of the disc
The PIF rise towards the outer edge is not good and should be a lot lower as is shown by the other burns but saying this the playback is OK throughout the entire disc. | | Speed test in the Toshiba drive
Again no problems here at reading the disc |
TEAC DV-W516G | Burn quality as tested in the NU drive
PIE peaks at 104, averages 32 peaking towards the outer rim not unlike its Liteon counterpart but not as severe. Jitter peak 15.5% average 13.2% is a bit on the high side and only a few PIF errors
This is an average burn that plays well but could be a lot better | | Speed test in the Toshiba drive
This scan shows a perfect graph |
This is another good disc that gives almost perfect burns in all but the Liteon range and the results will definitely take some beating especially the Benq result. The printing with my Epson R300 is excellent with vivid colours and a wide range of contrast. Its getting more & more difficult to chose between the discs and which to buy now that so many top quality disc are appearing on the market but If I was offered a quantity of these (Bulkpaq are you listening) I would jump at the chance to be able to use them.
